Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards’ bio “Life” was one of the more entertaining rock and roll reads – and how could it not be? Now the legendary performer adds a new sobriquet to his bio – children’s book author. Together with his talented daughter, Theodora Dupree Richards, whose beautiful artwork accompanies the story, Richards has given us “Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar.”
For most of us, the memory of our first guitar remains a strong one, outlasting some others that you may think should take precedence. No doubt this is true for Richards as the story of the guitar – and the musical influence – bestowed upon him by his grandfather Theodore Augustus Dupree, known as “Gus” is both loving and inspiring. Touching on the special bond between the young musician and his granddad, “Gus & Me” also celebrates other members of the family throughout the generations that followed.
We all know what came of that particular gift. “Gus & Me” is a gift that all guitarists will want to share with their children.
