This summer, Ernie Ball Music Man partnered with some of the biggest guitar players of today’s musical landscape to release some incredible new signature model guitars. Let’s take an in-depth look at the latest signature axes from the Ernie Ball Music Man family.
JP16: John Petrucci Signature Model
A culmination of a relationship over 15 years in the making, the Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci “JP16” offers an ideal combination of the best features of all John Petrucci signature instruments, one of the world’s best-selling artist signature models. The JP16 retains the styling of the current JP15 and features a basswood body with original JP6 arm scoop, a 20dB boost, a 25.5-inch scale, gun-oil finish, 17-inch radius roasted maple neck, a JP16 logo at the first fret, stainless steel frets, a smokey ebony fingerboard, Ernie Ball’s trademark 4-over-2 headstock, and compensated nut designed for superior tuning stability. New to this year’s model, the JP16 features a black Floyd Rose Pro Series Tremolo with matching black hardware and two new custom DiMarzio humbucking pickups. Available in both 6-string and 7-string models.
St. Vincent Signature Model
Winner of the Premier Guitar “Premier Gear” award and the Guitar World “Platinum” honor, the St. Vincent Signature model from Ernie Ball Music Man is one guitar you need to check out. The St. Vincent model features an ergonomic body shape made from lightweight African mahogany, and comes fitted with three DiMarzio mini-humbucking pickups with custom-wired 5-way switching for outstanding sonic versatility. Signature knobs, inlays, a molded pickguard, a 25.5-inch scale, gun-oil finished rosewood neck with a 10-inch radius fingerboard, Ernie Ball’s trademark 4-over-2 headstock, a compensated nut designed for superior tuning stability, and Ernie Ball Music Man’s exclusive super-smooth modern tremolo are among the guitar’s additional features.
James Valentine Signature Model
As lead guitar player of one of the world’s biggest bands, Maroon 5 member James Valentine is one of today’s most important guitar players, which is why Ernie Ball Music Man was really the perfect company to create his signature model. Crafted in Ernie Ball Music Man’s San Luis Obispo, California factory, the Valentine was created using the company’s unique design process, which provides artists unrestricted access to the factory and engineering teams. This allows them to realize truly original designs from the ground up. The Valentine, a mix of classic design aesthetics and innovative modern-day engineering, delivers unparalleled playability and performance. It features a slab ash body, two Ernie Ball Music Man designed pickups (1-humbucker/1-single coil) with a 3-way custom-wired lever switch and coil tapping, a modern hardtail bridge with vintage bent steel saddles, a 25.5-inch scale, gunstock oil and hand-rubbed special wax blend neck finish with 10-inch radius roasted maple fingerboard, 22 stainless steel frets, an oversized 4-over-2 headstock, and a compensated nut designed for superior tuning stability. The guitar also boasts an innovative tapered design that narrows the body of the guitar towards the top of the player, which lightens up the guitar without sacrificing tone while also improving playability by hugging the player more closely.
