Thousands of guitar players and guitar lovers are expected to pull into Nazareth, PA, this Saturday, August 2, from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. for the seventh annual Martin on Main music and arts festival, sponsored by the Nazareth Bath Area Chamber of Commerce. The hometown of C. F. Martin & Company was immortalized in the lyrics to the hit song “The Weight,” written by Robbie Robertson of The Band in 1968:
I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin’ about half past dead
I just need some place where I can lay my head
“Hey, mister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed?”
He just grinned and shook my hand, “no” was all he said
Organizers are expecting upwards of 4,000 attendees from as many as 40 states across the nation, and even some international visitors. Along with food stalls and both formal and informal musical performances, attendees will have a chance to win a Martin acoustic guitar valued at $3,700. The cost of the raffle is just $5.00. More information can be found at the Martin on Main festival website.
