Paul Reed Smith, a guitar player and gigging musician himself, began crafting guitars as a teenager to create the guitars he wanted but couldn’t afford. Paul spent years and years building guitars, and eventually, he even got them into the hands of guitar legends like Carlos Santana (who still plays PRS Guitars to this day). Officially founded in 1985, PRS Guitars gained immediate respect as a contemporary guitar brand capable of building some of the finest instruments in the world. Since the birth of the company, PRS Guitars has been widely recognized as a premium brand in the industry, with guitar offerings ranging from a price point of a couple grand to easily hitting the higher end of 5 figures.

PRS Guitars introduced the more affordable SE Series in the early 2000s, starting with the SE Santana, which still exists today! The SE Series guitars gave players that signature quality, style, tone, and playability that PRS guitars were famous for, all at a price point that was much more attainable to the everyday musician. Referred to by some as the “boutique import,” SE Series guitars really deliver so much more than you’d typically expect from other guitars in its price range. If you picked up one of these SE Series PRS guitars, plugged it in, and then played it, you’d think the guitar was at least $1,000 or more! Today, PRS Guitars is excited to introduce the 2018 SE Series lineup, which offers the perfect mixture of updated classic PRS guitar models, new takes on popular instruments, Artist models, and even brand-new additions including a killer 7-string model. Whether you’re looking for a high-quality first guitar or have played for years and just want a fantastic, affordable guitar, you have to check out the 2018 SE line!
