Today we are rounding up four 15″ bass combo amps, all under $400. Perfect for stage or studio, all of these amps are solid performers, but each unique its own way.
First up is the Hartke HD150. Like all of the HD series, the HD150 features Hartke’s HyDrive hybrid speaker design. The combo of the 15″ speaker and 1″ tweeter delivers a warm, round tone with plenty of low-end punch. With 150 watts of power, the HD150 is more than capable of holding down the stage in a medium-size venue while the convenient side handles and casters make for easy load-in and load-outs. Other features include a 7-band graphic EQ, electronically balanced direct output and a built-in limiter.
From Fender’s popular Rumble series comes the Fender Rumble 200. This 200-watt performer has been re-engineered from the ground up and is now lighter and louder with plenty of classic Fender vibe. The combination of a 15″ Eminence speaker and defeatable compression tweeter serve up a powerful tone palette, making this an ideal amp for any gig. Featuring soft-touch control knobs, a foot switchable overdrive and an exclusive 3-button voicing system The Fender Rumble 200 lives up the Fender legacy in both sound and style.
The TC Electronic BG250-115 MKII may be ultra-portable, but it still houses all the things that make a great bass combo. It’s light yet powerful, features super versatile tone shaping tools and it has an onboard tuner specifically calibrated for bass guitar. TC Electronic’s TonePrint feature lets you customize your sound by loading in signature effects designed by leading bassists. The Class D amp delivers 250 watts of raw power to the 15″ custom driver and 1″ piezo tweeter, making the BG250-115 one of the loudest combos in it’s class.
The last amp in our roundup is the Ampeg BA-115v2. This 150-watt combo features Ampeg’s Ultra Hi/Lo tone controls that lets you fine-tune your sound from sweet and clear to tube-like grit and grind. A flexible cabinet design offers a true 60-degree monitor angle for maximum clarity and bass response. The 15″ high-output speaker and 1″ high frequency driver combine for classic Ampeg bass tone and the HF driver can be muted for a more vintage sound. The backlit, front facing controls offer easy access to all of the BA-115’s tone shaping and performance features including Ampeg’s new Bass Scrambler overdrive.
